Early Detection and Rapid Response

EARLY DETECTION
AND RAPID RESPONSE

TSN programs ensure that when a domestic pest reaches damaging levels or a new pest is introduced to a new agricultural production area, that there is Early Detection and a Rapid Response of the threat. A crucial part of this response includes communicating the threat so that mitigation or control measures can be put in place as soon as possible. The best time to get a pest or disease under control is early in its establishment at any given site. Once a pest or pathogen becomes widely distributed or grows to large numbers, it is very difficult to manage or eradicate. If eradication is not an option, management is the approach that must be adopted.
